Safeguarding

Safeguarding is a priority at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School. In this section you will find our Safeguarding Policy and any other related documentation. Our Safeguarding Policy has been approved by the Governing Body. We review this every September at the start of each school year.

Below is the list of our Safeguarding Leads with their role contactable at school.

If you have any concerns about a child in our school community, please contact us at school on 0161 775 2847 and ask to speak to designated safeguarding lead.

Our Safeguarding Culture

Staff members working with children are advised to maintain an attitude of ‘it could happen here’ where safeguarding is concerned. When concerned about the welfare of a child, staff members should always act in the best interests of the child. We record all matters on our Child Protection records – (CPOMS)

In relation to children and young people, safeguarding and promoting their welfare is defined in ‘Working together to safeguard children’ as:

Protecting children from maltreatment
preventing impairment of children’s health or development
ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Whistleblowing

In addition, we are part of the Corpus Christi Catholic Academy Trust. Therefore, in the event that members of the Trust, school staff, parents, governors or the schools’ community at large become aware of activities which give cause for concern, the Trust has established this whistleblowing policy and procedure. This is available on the website.

In brief, if you have a concern regarding a member of staff, please bring this to the attention to the Safeguarding Leads.

If your concern is about any of the Safeguarding Leads, please bring this to the attention of the Headteacher.
